 COMMENTARY

+ this one is fun to report; in Florida, realtors hurt by the oil spill have received $16million from BP …. ‘hey, BP, how about a little for the Calgary guys?’ ….

+ ‘nuff already, swinging at a pitch in the dirt - Premier Stelmach is going to punch back at American retailers who have bought into a media campaign to frighten U.S. citizens about oil from Alberta’s oil sand.  Industry, Albertans and those who buy the oil are co-stakeholders in a process that is evolving, cleaner than ever . . . and getting better all the time. Ludicrous for Ed to spend time and money countering U.S. and European protesters – when our emissions are pale compared to U.S. coal fired power . . .

+ as we try to gauge whether recovery is really building a head of steam, or ready to crater again, one indicator that has been consistently a bell-weather of commercial real estate momentum is industrial leasing – it tends to be improving; U.S. industrial activity is up 25%+ with vacancy declining for the 1st time in 11 quarters … not a celebration yet, but a strong indicator that industrial companies are investing . . .
