congrats to Oxford Properties – CanterraTower has been awarded LEED Gold certification; first tower in Western Canada to win the designation
Calgary’s election for Mayor is getting funnier each week; there are now 17 candidates in the race and nominations haven’t closed yet – the silly season is beginning.
the Calgary Airport authority is tugging on Superman’s cape, trying to get Transport Canada to reduce the airport land lease rent to zero; not going to happen
Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan continues to fend of BHP Billiton, Sinochemand others – but you have to wonder at the wisdom of hiring Toronto-centric Conference Board of Canada??? … as their advisor instead of getting real financial analysis/advice from real investment bankers
AthabascaRiver water status: lots on newsprint wasted on a stupid argument – which seems ridiculous to me; David Schindler (his qualifications are ‘world class widely regarded water scientist’) wrote a report, reviewed by his peers - and then the Government of Alberta denies the science???Stelmach and Environment Minister Rob Renner (his qualifications are that he got re-elected) says the pollutants downriver from oilsands facilities are due to natural causes. No word on whether Renner is filling his canteen from the AthabascaRiver. At a time where the government is going toe-to-toe with activists to counter the dirty-oil label, they should at least have the decency to tell the truth about the water quality. When it comes to air, they want to tell the truth – but when it comes to water they keep trying to pretend it’s clean when they know they wouldn’t drink it themselves.
