+ Redford government introduced Bill 8, the Electric Utilities Amendment Act 2012, which will require all future transmission line projects to have a complete review and approval by the Alberta Utilities Commission and will involve a public participation process ; meanwhile, the Heartland transmission line, the Edmonton to Fort McMurray transmission lines, reinforcement lines between Edmonton and Calgary (north-south lines), and Calgary substation projects will continue as planned; however, all new projects will be subject to the AUC needs-assessment process

+ TransCanada Corporation puts its Bruce Power Unit 1 nuclear reactor back into commercial operations, Unit 2 synchronized with Ontario Power Grid
 
+ Grande Prairie’s 2nd hospital to open in 2017 – revised plan has budget pegged at $621 million
