+ University of Calgary School of Public Policy published a paper suggesting a 10 yr. plan for Alberta to eliminate dependence on resource revenues



 INFRASTRUCTURE / P3 / GREEN


+ ENMAX Corporation closed Capital Power Corporation's purchase of an initial 25% interest in a JV to build and operate the Shepard Energy Centre (800MW natural gas fired electricity generation facility to open first quarter 2015). Capital Power and ENMAX agreed to financially close the second 25% tranche no later than first quarter of 2014


+ Alberta Government announced plans for a new $1.3 billion southern Alberta Cancer Center for Calgary to replace the Tom Baker Center as a joint adventure with the Alberta Cancer Foundation; to be built on Foothills Medical Centre grounds in 2015/16; probably a P3 (Public Private Partnership) because the province has committed $181 million while it struggles with a large deficit. Alberta Cancer Foundation has committed to raising $200 million . . .


+ Alderman Shane Keating is proposing a new funding scheme to accelerate construction of the SouthEast LRT line . . . with little hope – but, it is an election year! I suppose he is seeking re-election


+ St. Patrick’s Island bridge ($25 million – opening in October/2013) under construction as part of island redevelopment – on time, on schedule – full design details of the $45 million master plan to be made public by mid-March


+ Mayor Nenshi making peace Canadian Home Builders Association’s Calgary Pres. – war of words may be over . . . stay tuned
