+ Catalyst Paper agreed to sell its 50% interest in Powell River Energy Inc. and Powell River Energy Limited Partnership to Powell River Energy Trust, a Brookfield Renewable Energy affiliate for $33 million


+ war or words between Calgary Mayor Nenshi and Municipal Affairs Minister Doug Griffiths continues – metropolitan plan (a 60 year regional plan) has most municipalities on-board, but MD’s of Foothills, Rocky View and Wheatland are holdouts. The issue?  Water. Big issue! Calgary wants to have all on-board before allocating water sharing . . . stay tuned – this fight is just starting!


+ City Council taking 36 holes of golf out of service; they approved rezoning of the Shawnee Slopes lands. Geo-Energy will be allowed to develop 1,700 homes on the former course lands. Secondly, the city will close the McCall Lake course after 2014 season. Proceeds from selling part of the McCall Lake lands will be used to develop badly needed recreation facilities to serve residents of the area
