 THIS WEEK - NEWS SUMMARY

  September  25 ~ October 1, 2024

 QUOTES

+ If you believe it will work, you’ll see opportunities. If you believe it won’t, you will see obstacles. - Wayne Dyer

+ The ones who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do. - Steve Jobs

 KUDOS

+ to the newest recipients of Order of Canada – induction this week, Oct. 3rd

- FACILITY Calgary - now in it's 26th year - every Tuesday morning - getting better, growing our audience, offering 'things you want to know' to people who want to know it

Your donation to iGIFTsight.ca helps poor kids see (YES, Canadian kids) - I've taken on a role with this very worthy work - a Calgary based charity with a national plan. I'm not asking anyone to switch the charities you support - and I'm asking you to add this one. Your money goes a long way. For instance, a $75.00 donation puts glasses on the faces of five kids who can't see the board. How can we do that?  Parntnerships, relationships, suppliers and creativity, volunteers and trust.

Mark Kolke, VP Fund Development, i GIFT sight

A message from FACILITYCalgary publisher Mark Kolke.
We are pleased to celebrate our relationship with iGIFTsight - a Calgary-based Canadian charity with a Canada-wide mission; if you've not heard about iGIFTsight, we urge you to invest a few moments of your time - click on a link to the site. You'll learn there is an unmet need for vision service in our communities. Getting eye exams, treatment, glasses and other corrective actions is something most of us take for granted as something we have funds or a benefit program, or that services are available where we live. This is made worse when families are already stretched so very far. If you can help, please consider helping in any that you can.

 INTERESTING TRENDS: OFFICE

+ GWL’s First Canadian Centre created 20,000 sq. ft. - new tenant amenity package on it’s fitness/lounge/conference are on main and mezzanine levels  - similar to it’s improvements across the country. As office-use shifts from traditional to home-work, to hybrid, uncertainty continues globally but landlords are relying on traditional inducements to win tenants – vacant space use for amenities attracts tenants vs. buildings without, and in a marketplace focused on employee recruitment and retention, GWL seems to have an approach worth considering. In the end, it’s CFOs deciding on costs, but increasingly it’s the HR shops in large companies driving direction/choices more than ever ... tic toc, we’ll see
