 INFRASTRUCTURE / P3

+ Axium Infrastructure closed its acquisition of 25% interest in Kinds Mountain Energy Center and 19.6% interest in Middletown Energy Center from Capital Dynamics; terms not disclosed

+ City of Calgary is making some moves – some would say in anticipation of an Olympic Games Bid, to expand roadway connections around YYC (trying to re-open negotiations around interchanges), discussion of planning for LRT expansion to YYC and a laundry list of other infrastructure projects Mayor Nenshi is advocating for and bashing the Notley government about: oh wait, let me check, YES … it is an election year and his nibs is campaigning …

+ Infrastructure Ontario awarded a contract for the Highway 427 expansion project; $616.0 million project went to LINK 427 [ACS Infrastructure Canada Inc., Brennan Infrastructures Inc., Dragados Canada Inc., Bot Infrastructure Ltd., MMM Group Ltd., Thurber Engineering Ltd., Maintenance: ACS Infrastructure Canada Inc. .. consortium]

+ Trudeau Government to sell off airports; True/False – much talk about discussion to have Transport Canada to stay in regulatory control but sell the real estate. YYC, like so many airports, leases its site from Transport Canada. It is argued that the government should always play a regulatory role, but the need to own the asset is weak – so look for Mr. Morneau to wring some major dollars out the institutional infrastructure and P3 investors later this year, or next. I predict 1-off sales of Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton with others major city airports to be ‘packaged’ in several portfolio groupings. It seems perverse that government will want to sell the money-making jewels and hold to the money-losers .. tic toc
