+ A WILD weekend for travelers; the WestJet strike/walkout fears, canceling flights etc. relieved anxiety, aided by the Federal Minister O’Reagan’s bungled intervention to send the dispute to binding inspiration – and made worse by his failure to walk it back or ‘fix it’ – because the arbitrator gave guidance to the union that they could still go on strike – which they did; Don Braid’s telling of this cluster-eff is a great read – and estimates of 49,000 disrupted traveller’s plans seems low … because re-scheduled and canceled flights seem to add up to a lot more; I’ve heard a lot of Calgarians sprinting to Great Falls, Montana to catch flights south of airlines with suddenly ‘surge pricing’, but when you need to get where you need to go, don’t count on the Trudeau government to step in to help, but they seem to step into something alright …

~ and p.s. to all that, at 10:30 MDT, June 30th, the strike was settled – ‘tentative-agreement’ leaving all the parties damaged

+ Advantage Energy Ltd. closed an $18.75 million over-allotment debt raise for $143.75 million

+ Alberta Government reported financial results for the year ended March 31/2024; a $4.3 billion surplus notwithstanding and an unbudgeted $3.0 billion relating to a horrific fire season

+ Arts Commons secured funding to ensure completion ($498.5 million of its $660.0 million plan secured)  of its expansion/redevelopment program; $75.0 million gift from the Werklund family; and facility will be renamed as the Werklund Centre

+ Canadian Spirit Resources Inc. agreed to sell a portfolio of Montney lands for $5.0 mllion

+ City of Calgary – LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY still in effect – water main repairs nearing completion: progress report – restoration of water supply is expected to be completed by July 5th, possibly sooner; - Mayor Gondek continues daily reports and other officials with their updates; Alberta Health Services have confirmed water quality tests is up to standard, which is the go-ahead to restore services (flushing, filling pipes under pressure to get the feeder-main operational) ...
