+ and, threatened tariffs of 25% against Canadian exports to the United States did not manifest, yet, though Trump stated he is thinking about it for February 1; Trudeau government announcements have stated clearly that Canada has a response/retaliation plan in the works. Meanwhile, Premier Smith broke with other provinces on this issue and has been lobbying for the Trump administration to take a different view on energy strategies in cooperation with Canada, and CAPP members are speaking out too
