A message from FACILITYCalgary publisher Mark Kolke.
We are pleased to celebrate our relationship with iGIFTsight - a Calgary-based Canadian charity with a Canada-wide mission; if you've not heard about iGIFTsight, we urge you to invest a few moments of your time - click on a link to the site. You'll learn there is an unmet need for vision service in our communities. Getting eye exams, treatment, glasses and other corrective actions is something most of us take for granted as something we have funds or a benefit program, or that services are available where we live. This is made worse when families are already stretched so very far. If you can help, please consider helping in any that you can.
NSTEP is focused on building healthy habits for children, for life!
We are an education hub of scientific, evidence based knowledge that focuses on teaching healthy habits for children, for life. We want their brains to be powered and nourished through healthy eating and physical activity. Nutrition and activity build better brains and bodies.
NSTEP is different than other health promotion programs in its success at being accepted, integrated and supported by school staff and administration at all levels of the education system. Our programs are sought after by teachers because they provide curriculum and activities that teaches children and youth how to build communities inside the places they spend the greater part of their lives.
+ a world of turmoil in recent days – the Trump Administration declaration of an emergency situation, under Presidential powers for such emergency condition imposed new tarrifs on Canada, Mexico and China – which were to go into effect today – February 4th at 12:01AM; the statements, official statements by all countries, behind-scenes emergency meetings in efforts to reverse/cancel/argue against the flawed logic of unjustified trade tariffs in defiance of the Canada-America-Mexico USMCA trade agreement have raised the ire of all Canadians, echoes of economists saying ‘it’s a crazy move’ and many observers seeing it as a geo-political blunder with devastating immediate impact on long-standing robust trading relationships with allies, to declines in the Canadian dollar, oil prices, and the spending philosophy of corporations and families – all because of an ill-considered and economically flawed campaign promise. The Canadian government announced its plans for retaliatory tariffs. By end of day, a pause on the tariffs was the walk-balk by Trump, the can was kicked down the proverbial road ... for 30 days.Comments today from Premier Smith on the 30-day delay.
