- FACILITY Calgary - now in it's 26th year - every Tuesday morning - getting better, growing our audience, offering 'things you want to know' to people who want to know it
A message from FACILITYCalgary publisher Mark Kolke.
We are pleased to celebrate our relationship with iGIFTsight - a Calgary-based Canadian charity with a Canada-wide mission; if you've not heard about iGIFTsight, we urge you to invest a few moments of your time - click on a link to the site. You'll learn there is an unmet need for vision service in our communities. Getting eye exams, treatment, glasses and other corrective actions is something most of us take for granted as something we have funds or a benefit program, or that services are available where we live. This is made worse when families are already stretched so very far. If you can help, please consider helping in any that you can.
+ a lot will be said about what happened last Friday; and whether or not there is a long-term story remains to be seen – and it’s a US presidential election year, and those are always a little crazy; but it’s not the announcement of ‘what Warren Buffett’ did in the last quarter that started the global markets sell-off over the weekend. The culprit was Claudia Sahn, for whom the ‘Sahn Rule’ is named: the rule holds that a recession is already underway if the unemployment rate's three-month moving average rises half a percentage point from its low of the past year – which it did last Friday’s jobless numbers indicated which will, as it often does, play out differently in the U.S. … but not usually by much
