  COMMENTARY + argument

+ the economy – if your crystal ball looks at employment stats – may see Alberta (Calgary in particular) avoid the impact of soft employment numbers in Canada and worse one south to the border – Calgary’s unemployment rate dropped from 6.7 to 6.3% last month while the Canadian rate rose from 7.9 to 8.0% during the same period … and job growth usually has a positive impact on in-migration of job skills, housing and car sales etc … but, national housing sales/re-sale stats have softened up considerably … a confidence issue

+ kudos to Enbridge; in sharp contrast to BP’s behavior in the gulf, Enbridge have stepped up to clear up their Kalamazoo River pipeline break including offering to buy up the homes of residents fearing a drop in property values - waytogo

+ Tiger Woods was lamenting shooting 18 over par …. something I’ve always been very happy with that score

 INFRASTRUCTURE / P3 / GREEN / LEED

+ finally, some industrial property relief in Fort McMurray where prices have been ridiculously high for land and for lease space – getting some new product. The government of Alberta is releasing two parcels for sale; 625 acres this fall and a further 600 acres in spring 2011.  It will be a while still until this supply produces serviced development sites, but there is light at the end of the tunnel ….
